Independent Repair Shops Called Retailers First More in 2015 According to IMR Inc.’s Repair Shop Tracking Study

Retailers saw an increase in the number of independent repair shops making them their first call for parts in 2015. In 2014, 36.2 percent of shops called the retailer first compared to 38.8 percent in 2015.

“From 2014 to 2015, retailers saw an increase in the number of independent repair shops who made them the first call for parts,” said Bill Thompson, president and CEO of IMR Inc. “WDs are still the first choice for the first call at 45.2 percent in 2015 but this number was higher in 2014 at 45.9 percent. Dealerships dropped from 4.4 percent in 2014 to 2.9 percent in 2015 as the first call supplier.”
